Myanmar Govt. prohibits Failed Law Movement

Two members of all Burma university students Zeya Lwin and Paing Ye Thu detained for participating in the Failed Law were put on trial on September 1 at Kyauktada Township court. The Failed Movement is the one which calls for amending the 2008 constitution and asking the 25 per cent of military representatives to be removed from the parliament.

“Today, we wear black T-shirts printed as Failed Laws. But, on the way to the court, the police officers told us to take off these T-shirts. If we continue to wear them, what they said is, the court hearing will be cancelled. This shows that the administrative sector influenced over the judicial sector and Myanmar’s judicial sector is completely ruined. We did this to highlight how much judicial sector in Myanmar has been ruined,” said Po Thar, a member of all Burma university students.   

 The aim of staging Failed Laws campaign is to pinpoint the death of freelance reporter Ko Par Gyi, local Khin Win dead in Letpadaungtaung protest, sentencing the students involved in protesting for amending the national education law, and to release political prisoners.

The next court hearing will be on September 15.

Members of all Burma university students Zeya Lwin and Yaing Ye Thu were taken action with Section 505(b) while student Nan Lin was announced as fugitive.
